Complex Surgery

 

In the context of complex surgery, conventions have been set up between the RIZIV/INAMI and recognised medical centres for the reimbursement of:

 

-        Complex surgery of tumours of the oesophagus or gastro-oesophageal junction and non-oncological conditions of the oesophagus

-        Complex surgery of benign, premalignant and malignant conditions of the pancreas and/or periampullary region

 

 

More information about this convention can be found on the RIZIV/INAMI website, for both the oesophagus and the pancreas.

 

This convention states a mandatory registration of variables through the Belgian Cancer Registry, including the report of the multidisciplinary consult, the pathology report and the surgery report (dataset oesophagus dataset pancreas).

The start date of the conventions and the associated registrations is July 1st, 2019. Registrations can be delivered to BCR in two ways:

 

-        Via the Web Based Cancer Registration (WBCR) application of the Cancer Registry (project modules 'Complex Surgery Oesophagus' and 'Complex Surgery Pancreas'). More information on how to use the online WBCR application is available in the WBCR manual.

 

 

 

-        in batch, through a predefined format. This format and the requested order of variables is available in the 'batch file template' (batch oesophagus batch pancreas)

 

 

The results of this convention are evaluated based on a set of process and outcome indicators (indicators oesophagus indicators pancreas - reading guide oesophagus (Dutch - French) - reading guide pancreas (Dutch - French).
